this afternoon to take you to a press brief big the president and afghan president hamid karzai and it is how many troops will remain in afghanistan next year when the president has said that the war will be officially over. the u.s. troop withdrawal will occur and that is why we wanted to bring you the event live. right now there are 66,000 forces in afghanistan and so many questions about what the country will look like after the united states leaves since the war began more than 2,000 american service members have lost their lives and another 18,000 have been wounded. karzai's often been critical of the united states, but he wants forces to remain. he was at the pentagon yesterday meeting with leon panetta and met with with secretary clinton last night. u.s. officials are talking about a zero option after next year with no forces remaining behind in afghanistan. that is an area of concern for president karzai, because he would like a more robust force to help with the training of afghan forces there. kristen welker is at the white house at the east room awaiting the two leaders. kri
